Hello, and a “Heads Up”…

…about Jeffrey Rasche (you can just call him “Jeff.” It’s easier than trying to pronounce “Rev. Rasche”)

Most people who know Jeff soon realize that he is enthusiastic about many things–pottery, koi ponds, barns, the Bible, stained glass, and more. And…because of that, sometimes he might talk just a little longer than most people want to listen! After all, he is a long-time minister, which means that on an average Sunday he preaches for about 20 minutes even though after 1-3 minutes most reasonable people have let their minds wander to composing the grocery list, or mowing the lawn…or maybe they just decide to take a nap (see above).

In between excessively long sermons, Jeff has written 17 devotional books thus far, and a gob of articles for newspapers and magazines and curriculum, too. But, really, who does stuff like that? It must be somebody who ran out of listeners, so the only resort is to sit alone in a room with a computer, and write books, imagining that “somebody out there” might want to read all those words.

He retired in 2020 from his most recent full-time ministry at Chaddock in Quincy, Illinois, which helps abused and neglected children. So now, besides making pottery and managing “Windsong Acres” and frequent preaching engagements, he decided to create this website, a blog, and an online Bible Study, and maybe more stuff about pottery too, all just in case “somebody out there” needs something else to do.

So thank you for reading (if you are still awake by now). Hopefully Jeff’s website will give you a chuckle, or make you think, or help the Bible come to life for you, or at least help you find a nice piece of pottery. Either way, even if his sermons put you to sleep, remember that you are a unique and special “somebody out there,” and Jeff wrote all this stuff just for you.

Life at Windsong Acres

Jeff and his wife Shelly, a freelance commercial artist, live on a farm called “Windsong Acres,” located outside of Camp Point, Illinois. It features two renovated historic barns, a new rustic “art barn” that is a favorite location for large indoor weddings or special events, and a gazebo set in the midst of three koi ponds. Jeff teaches stained glass and pottery classes, offers free pond consulting in the area, maintains the buildings, feeds the animals, and along with Shelly, enjoys spending time with family.
